Caterpillar and Butterfly Rooms - Montessori / ECCE

From 24 months your child will be ready to join our fun filled Caterpillar and Butterfly Rooms.

The primary challenge for a child at this stage is to develop advanced communication skills and to explore social and behavioural boundaries.

Donna's Montessori supports and facilitates this development by providing a more structured environment while at the same time encouraging each child to express his own personality through imaginative and creative play.

As your child’s vocabulary increases, your child will start to put sentences together instead of just words. At Donna's Montessori we constantly encourage language development through various fun activities.

Our curriculum strives to challenge each individual child and to promote self-esteem, concentration and positive behaviour.  In the Caterpillar Room the staff work closely with each child to prepare them for the more advanced Montessori environment.

We enjoy open communication with parents and we provide highly detailed Daily Report Forms and Diaries for each child in our care as well as Monthly Developmental Forms.

Donna's Montessori takes part in the ECCE government scheme within our vibrant and stimulating Butterfly Room.

Our pre-school teachers implement a child-led, emergent, play-based curriculum that is linked to Aistear and Siolta, and also incorporates the literacy and numeracy skills needed for primary school. The teachers utilise various methods such as games, songs, discussions, stories and technology.  Arts and crafts, nature exploration, science experiments and time for free play are just a few of the learning experiences our pre-schoolers enjoy.

The Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) Scheme provides early childhood care and education for children of pre-school age.  Donnas Montessori runs the ECCE Scheme from 9am - 12pm, Monday to Friday throughout the School Year.  All eligible children are entitled to attend up to 5 days per week.

The State pays a capitation fee to participating playschools and daycare services. In return, they provide a pre-school service free of charge to all children within the qualifying age range for a set number of hours over a set period of weeks.
